I learned BASIC in 1969 when my high school was connected to the phone company's main-frame via a really thick set of cables. Went through punch tape to cards and COBOL in college. And have owned a computer since an early one that used my cassette player to run programs from a tape. How nice to now have a smartphone, tablet and new touch screen laptop :-)
