We took our kids to museums from the time they were infants. My youngest's first museum visit to the Smithsonians was at two weeks old. Over the years, visiting the museum gift shop became a rite where invariably they'd get an unusual keepsake to remind them of the visit.
Now, they are grown women. Recently, they went on a weekend adventure out of town to blow off some steam in college. Where'd they go when they were in the driver's seat? An art museum and a historic town where they enjoyed its cultural amenities.
Yeah, we raised them well!
Taking kids to museums and cultural destinations always increase their awareness. I always saw a new sensibility in our children after we took them to see what was in store at a museum.
