Many years ago, the Smithsonian Craft Show auctioned off a chance to spend a day helping to set up the Julia Child exhibit. I had the winning bid, and spent the day helping catalog the contents of her kitchen and arrange the items for display. Just like Anneliese Bustillo, I was thrilled to find that she had many of the same appliances and gadgets that I had. It was interesting to see that many of the utensils had obviously seen a lot of use, and many (particularly single-purpose gadgets) that looked like she'd tried them once or twice but then shoved them into a drawer, dismissed as being not worth the effort.
