As an artisan living and working in America, I welcome this plan. I hope the Smithsonian will go so far as to commission works from some of the many, many fine crafters and artists here, as well as source local manufacturers for their licensed products.
For the other museum stores, I would encourage the Smithsonian to go further and ensure that products that are imported are Fair Trade certified.
Now - how can I make a submission of my handmade goods to the museum store?
