Thanks for your blog post! I remember how important American Girl dolls were for me in learning about American history as a young girl. Addy's books taught me about slavery in a way that was not discussed in elementary school, and I'm still grateful for their forthrightness today.

Those narratives had such an impact on me that I'm actually an American Studies major at Georgetown University currently writing my senior thesis on women's experiences with American Girl dolls, books and products. I would love to include you. I think discussing the these materials is an important entree into understanding how kids engage with history. Please let me know if you're interested!
