They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Viewing this slideshow of photographs from around the building, therefore, will spare you from reading approximately 17,000 words!
Are there areas of the museum you want to see more of as we get ready to reopen? Let us know by leaving a comment and we'll try to send our roving photographers out to capture the images you want to see most.
Dana Allen-Greil is the museum's new media project manager.

Wow! This looks like it was quite an undertaking. Were those A/C vents they were moving around? They're huge!
In my 30+ years of architectural (industrial, residential, and commercial) experience, I never did get to work on a museum [this would have been quite the challenge, I'm sure]. I'm working now in the Charlotte Home Remodeling market, but I look forward to coming to the Smithsonian and NMAH, the next time my wife and I are in D.C.
Look like you have quite a collection of American History on your hands!
All the best,
Bob Porter

Amanda- I was in the construction zone today and was able to snap some photos of the atrium as well as the entrance from the National Mall. I'll include these in the next slideshow. Stay tuned!

I would really like to see more pictures of the main entrance/lobby area. Thanks! :)
